LCCTM CONTEST RULES
The Contestants
      Each contestant must be nominated by the mathematics
department of his/her high school on the official nomination form.
    All contestants will participate at the time and location
set for the contest.
    Each contestant must be a junior or a senior.     Previous
scholarship winners are ineligible.     All students who participate are
eligible for prizes.
The Number of Nominees
      The number of nominees for each class is determined as follows:
- - Up to 10 juniors and 10 seniors for EACH school.
Participating Schools
      Any school geographically situated in Luzerne County
may participate. Tunkhannock Area School District is also listed as a
particpating school.
The Participating Teacher
      Participating schools are requested to send a teacher who will help with the
proctoring and grading.
Contest Fees
      There is a team entry fee of ten dollars ($10.00)
per school, plus a five dollar ($5.00) fee per student.
The team fee is waived if at least one faculty member
from the participating school is a current LCCTM member.
    Please make the check payable to the
Luzerne County Council of Teachers of Mathematics or to LCCTM.
The Prizes
      Wilkes University will award a guaranteed full scholarship to the first place
winner in the junior as well as senior division.     The junior division winner
may, if he/she qualifies for early admission, use the scholarship beginning
in September in the year of the contest.     Otherwise, he/she may use it when
he/she begins university studies at Wilkes in the following year after graduation
from high school.     The initial award will, together with any state scholarship
or federal Basic Educational Opportunity Grant for which the winner is eligible,
cover the full tuition of the winner for the freshman year.     It is renewable in
subsequent years provided that the recipient meets the general scholarship
requirements of Wilkes University.
      In the event of a tie occuring during the scoring for first-place in any
division of the contest, a tie-breaking rubric will be appllied.
